About.com Guide to Single Parents

Jennifer Wolf is a Certified Parent Coach and fervent advocate of single moms and dads. Through her writing, speaking, and individual coaching, Jennifer aims to provide ongoing support and encouragement to solo parents around the most pressing challenges of single parenting, including:

  • Raising children without a partner
  • Collaborating with a co-parent
  • Being an active non-custodial parent
  • Dealing with legal issues, such as child support, custody, and visitation
  • Handing finances on your own, and
  • Finding the time to take care of yourself

Experience:

Jennifer has been an advocate for single parents since 2004, when she began teaching parenting classes through a program called "PEACH" in Hunterdon County, NJ. In that capacity, Jennifer had the opportunity to support many single moms and dads who were referred to her classes through the family court system.

Since then, Jennifer has been honored to support single moms and dads though this site, through her one-on-one parent coaching practice, and by helping other organizations to develop and facilitate ongoing parent education programs.

Education:

Jennifer earned her parent coach certification through The Parent Coaching Institute, which offers a graduate level coach training program in conjunction with Seattle Pacific University's Graduate School of Education.

From Jennifer Wolf:

"So many of the single moms and dads I have worked with feel completely alone, and unfortunately, being a single parent is a role that our culture just does not do enough to honor and uphold.

"My goal as the Guide to Single Parents here at About.com is to provide relevant information for our readers, while also creating a community our readers can return to again and again for the ongoing support and encouragement they need."

Personal:
Jennifer is also the mother of two children, ages 10 and 6. When she is not writing or working with clients, you can find Jennifer hanging out with her kids or (less frequently) curled up with a good book.
