Living With Your Parents

Thursday August 7, 2008
Have you ever considered moving in with your mom and dad? Clearly, the thought doesn't sit well with every family, but it's an option that has helped many single parents improve upon their financial situation and resolve some all-too-familiar child care issues. If you've never considered it, here are a few of the benefits of living with your parents:
  • Living with your parents will allow you to immediately save on monthly expenses.

  • Potentially, your parents' home could be more spacious than anything else you could afford right now.

  • Living with your parents will allow you to save money toward buying your own home or paying down debt.

  • Your parents may be able to provide child care for your children while you work -- or even go on a date or two.

  • Having live-in grandparents means two more adults to love on your kids unconditionally! (And who can argue with that?)

  • Finally, another key benefit for you is simply having another adult around to share the details of your day with. You might even find that you're able to establish an altogether different and more meaningful relationship than one you previously had with your mom and/or dad.

So what do you think? Is it something you could ever consider? Would it be worth the financial gain, or is the thought of living with your parents again just too overwhelming? Tell us what you think by leaving a comment below.
