Crunch Time
- I spend so much time shuttling the kids to and from activities, cooking and checking homework that my big projects are neglected. Before my two go out of town I make a list of all the things I want to accomplish in their absence. I look at my budget, prioritize and schedule. Once they leave I exhale and dive in. I get much more done in less time without interruptions and I feel good about the things I'm doing to make our home a better place. This also helps me to mentally unwind, reflect and prepare for their return. I journal on things I'd like to work on and set goals for my family and the upcoming school year.

I Give Them My Blessing!
- My kids go to see their father, who lives in another state, for three weeks every summer. For me, it always ends up being a very bittersweet time. I know I "should" look forward to the break and having some time for myself, but it's very hard for me to be apart from my kids. The way I've learned to cope with it is to give my kids my blessing. I put their need to be with their dad above my need to be around them. It doesn't make it hurt any less, but having a good attitude about it, and focusing on how important it is for them, does help. I also send them lots of cards and care packages while they're away!
