Filing for Child Custody in Washington County, Pennsylvania

:

From average joe

Washington County

5 ,6, and 9

What I Did:

Joint custody (also known as shared custody)

How I Did It:

Men are behind the eight ball, no matter what their role was in the marriage or what took place. The courts in Washington County are very tough on men. We are in the 21st century and women want equal rights in everyday life, and I agree with that. But dads deserve equal rights as parents. I know there are some special cases, but dads need more say in today's world and should be given a chance in the court room.

Lessons Learned:

  • I wish I had filed a PFA (protection from abuse) order against my spouse before she did it to me.
  • My wife cheated and lied and still got the house, my personal belongings, and the kids.
  • She got total control by using PFA, and I never hit her, threatened her, or had the police at my house for a domestic dispute over the 15 years we were married.

Jennifer Wolf, Single Parents Guide, says:

Only file a PFA or personal protection order in the event that you have been a victim of abuse or are truly in fear that the relationship will become abusive. Never file a personal protection order to retaliate against your spouse for threatening to file one against you. Making false allegations against a spouse can hurt your standing in the court and may even cause you to lose your child custody case.
