Each year the National Institute on Media and the Family releases a MediaWise® Video Game Report Card. Part of that report includes a "top ten" video games buying guide to help parents select fun and age-appropriate games for their children. The following games were listed in the Tenth Annual MediaWise® Video Game Report Card as the best video games for kids:

1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Rated "E 10+" (everyone ten and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Players can play the game as Harry, Ron, or Hermione
- Battle dragons, pass through intricate mazes, and save others from danger
2. The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer
- Rated "E 10+" (everyone ten and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Players can play the game as Mr. Incredible or Frozone
- This creative game picks up where the movie left off, in the Underminer's underground world
3. Peter Jackson's King Kong
- Rated "T" (teen) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Players can either be the character Jack Driscoll or take control of the adventure from the third-person point of view
- This game includes excellent graphics and sound quality
4. Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
- Rated "E" (ages 6 and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- The main character, Link must save Princess Zelda from the evil Vaati
- Players use the power of the magical "Minish Cap" to solve dungeon puzzles and collect Kinstones
5. Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe
- Rated "T" (teen) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Closely follows the plotline of the movie and inlcudes a variety of playing levels
- Players fight off enemies, collect coins, and solve puzzles
6. Sly 3: Honor Amongst Thieves
- Rated "E 10+" (everyone ten and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Sly and his friends work to collect masks and unlock the secret of Sly's heritage
- Includes optional 3-D playing levels
7. We Love Katamari
- Rated "E" (ages 6 and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Players work to roll through the game screens, collecting everything in The Prince's path into a giant orb
- Also allows for cooperative play with multiple players
8. Sid Meier's Pirates!
- Rated "E" (ages 6 and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- This award-winning game lets players do battle with 27 different ships
- Players work to track down and defeat Blackbead and other famous pirates
9. Dance Dance Revolution ULTRAMIX3
- Rated "E 10+" (everyone ten and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- This interactive game lets players dance along with the music
- Incorporates a variety of music and dance styles
10. Backyard Baseball 2005
- Rated "E" (ages 6 and up) by the Entertainment Safety Ratings Board
- Play with a mix of "backyard kids" and child versions of famous ball players, like A-Rod and Sammy Sosa
- Includes several modes of play: Single Game, Season Play, Batting Practice and Home Run Derby
