Legal Definition of Pro Bono
"Pro Bono" is a latin terms which means "for the public good" or, loosely translated, "for free." A parent may not be comfortable proceeding with a child custody proceeding "pro se," but he/she may not be able to afford a private attorney. Individual states have services, consisting of attorneys who volunteer their services "pro bono" for child custody proceedings. Pro bono legal services for child custody cases are provided at no cost to the parent who is requesting services.
