It's Time to Redefine Selfish

By January 7, 2014

Follow me on:

I know a lot of single moms and dads who put off taking care of their own needs for their kids' sake. And while things like deferring your own social life or putting off educational goals or career aspirations until the time is right for your kids may not hurt anyone, putting off your own healing could.

A young woman feeling sad and blue.

How so? Because your kids are learning how to deal with the the changes they're going through by watching you. So if they're dealing with a divorce, grief over a recent loss, or even a geographical move, tending to your own healing isn't just unselfish -- it's a necessary part of facilitating the healing your kids need to experience, as well.
