If you're having trouble reaching an agreement with your ex about custody, I strongly recommend that you consider the benefits of mediation. Most families find that it's less expensive overall and less stressful for the children, in particular, compared to the experience of going to court.
In addition, because the process of mediation will equip you with practical skills for communicating with your ex, you'll be better prepared through mediation to collaborate as co-parents in the coming months and years.
