This is one of my favorite times of the year, not only because it's summer, but because the sun comes up early enough that I usually find myself naturally awake before my alarm goes off or the kids come bounding in. It's such a relief to wake up to just a few minutes of peace and quiet.
If you don't typically have this experience, I encourage you to start waking up before your kids. Getting into that habit now will make getting the kids ready for school each morning that much easier when fall comes -- plus, it creates a little chunk of time for yourself.
But here's the catch: Whether it's five minutes or fifteen minutes, don't use the time to start laundry, make lunches, etc. Give yourself the gift of doing "nothing" for a few minutes.
Try it for a few days and see if enjoying some quiet time each morning doesn't make all of the chaotic hours that come after just a little less stressful.
