Many divorcing parents have difficulty working out how and when to tell the children the news, in part because they never in a million years imagined they'd have to face this issue.

As hard as it is, working with your soon-to-be ex to figure out what details to share, and when, will make the entire process a little easier on your kids. The more the two of you can begin to work together, the more you can genuinely communicate to your children the one truth they most need to hear: "We're still family."
