If someone gives your child a gift that isn't age appropriate -- or that you simply don't approve of -- go ahead and return it. And if you need to ask the giver for a receipt, just be honest and explain that you've set limits against this type of gift, and while you appreciate it, you don't want to confuse your child by accepting it.
