My nine-year-old loves to remind me that she's long outgrown her princess phrase. But I remember a time when she wanted nothing more than to parade around the house in her purple and turquoise Ariel costume daily.

That was the year I purchased the gown for Halloween, and then recycled it into her collection of dress up clothes. Knowing that she'd wear it again made me feel better about shelling out the money I spent on the costume! And because she really did get a lot of use out of it, I can look back now and say it was money well-spent.
