A mom considers going back to school.Does buying your kids' back-to-school supplies and gearing up for another school year have you dreaming of heading back to the classroom yourself? If so, consider applying for a single parent scholarship.

There are legitimate programs out there, available to single parents, as well as low-income families, but they can be rather difficult to find.

Begin your scholarship search by contacting colleges and universities in your area to ask whether they have a single parent scholarship program. (Many schools do, but the information is not posted on their web sites in a way that is search engine-friendly.)

In addition, check our lists of state-by-state and national single parent scholarship programs, as well as grant programs for single mothers and fathers, and begin taking baby steps toward making your dream a reality.
