I tend to be pretty frugal when it comes to buying clothes for my kids, so the thought of spending $50 or more on something that will get used only once just really bugs me. That's why I've tried to steer my kids, over the years, toward Halloween costumes that they'll use again and again, in their regular play.
In fact, my ten-year-old still likes to use old his Star Wars light sabers to engage in imaginary battles when he's bored. And my 6-year-old and her friends frequently enjoy dressing up in her old princess Halloween costumes.

My youngest granddaughter just started to school, and she is not loving wearing uniforms. Every day that she doesn’t have to go to school, she wears a tutu. So a ballerina costume can be a thrifty choice! I’m not sure what’s going to happen when the weather turns too cold for tutus!
We have multiple children so I always try to buy costumes that can be used for dress up as well as by the next set of kids. My one daughter love this turtle costume. She’s been a turtle for like 3 years now!
Definetly this year we are doing halloween on a budget. It is so much money to go into a store and buy a costume. Why not just make one it saves money and it is something that you can enjoy doing with your kids.
