Thrifty Thursday: Free Personal Training for Single Parents

Finding the time to exercise as a single parent can be extra challenging, because your schedule is already packed from sun-up to sun-down, and raising kids on your own leaves you bone-tired. However, the benefits of regular exercise--which include warding off depression and helping you get a better night's sleep--are particularly important to solo parents. So how to do find the time to get in shape, without investing in a babysitter or a personal trainer?

Try serving as your own personal trainer! All you really need to get started is a decent pair of gym shoes, comfortable clothes, and a clock or watch with a second hand. You can also use the stopwatch feature on your cell phone or ipod. In fact, you can assign the task of timing each exercise to your kids, which will keep them close by and involved while you complete your exercise routine.

For a list of suggested exercises, along with links to free instructional videos, read Find Time to Exercise as a Single Parent.

This is highly motivational. The quest to staying fit and owning a fabulous body is at hand if only one gives his or her dedication and commitment.
