Thrifty Thursday: Take Advantage of a Tax Free Weekend Event
Do you live in a state that offers a tax free weekend during the summer? If you do, it makes sense to plan your back-to-school shopping around the event.
In fact, even if you don't, the opportunity to enjoy a tax free holiday may be worth the drive to a distant location. (You never know, it might evolve into an annual get-a-way with family members and friends who want to save their hard-earned money as badly as you do!)
The following states are offering a tax free weekend (or week, in some cases) during 2009:
Alabama
Connecticut
Georgia
Iowa
Louisiana
Mississippi
Missouri
New Mexico
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Vermont
Virginia
Washington D.C.
West Virginia
Note: Unfortunately, Florida, Maryland, and Massachusetts will not be offering tax free weekends this year.
