How to Do Your Patriotic Duty and Stay Sane

Here's a tip for bringing your kids with you to the polls: treat the outing a bit like a long car ride. Bring some snacks, a juice box or two, and a few activities, books, and coloring pages to keep your kids occupied if the lines get long. (In fact, if you have older kids, you might want to pack a portable game player, as well.)

Don't forget an extra dose of patience, too. I know my little "Miss M" will probably want to play 65 rounds of "I Spy" while we're there! But maybe I can convince her to mix it up with "101 Things to Do When There's Nothing to Do," which I got from from Terri, About.com's Guide to Special Needs Children.
