Save Money on Your Kids' Back-to-School Shopping Needs

Saturday July 12, 2008

Providing for each of your kids' needs can easily put you in a position where you're spending more money than you take in every month. School supplies, clothing, shoes. They all cost money, and they're also things your kids can't really do without.

But what about those times when there just isn't enough money for all those necessary expenses? Here are a few things you can do:

  • Look for the items you need on Freecycle.

  • Shop at consignment shops and thrift stores.

  • Contact social services in your area to inquire about churches and local organizations that are collecting school supplies for children in need.

  • Use coupons and check your local sales circulars for the best deals on children's clothing and school supplies.

  • See if your state is offering a sales tax holiday before school starts. If they are, wait to purchase everything you'll need during that time and take advantage of the additional savings.
