Tips for Coparents Attending School Functions Like Back-to-School Night

Tuesday September 11, 2007
Being present at Back-to-School Night is a great way to support your child's education and gather key insights as to what you can expect from his or her teachers during this school year. If you haven't yet made the commitment to attend, I'd encourage you to read Top 10 Reasons to Go to Back-to-School Night, written by About.com's Guide to Parenting Special Children, Terri Mauro.

In addition, if you're raising your children with a coparent, take the time to give him or her a quick call and find out whether they're planning to attend. Making the effort to collaborate in this way will set a positive tone for the entire school year. Plus, letting your child's mom or dad know how much their involvement means to your son or daughter can go a long way toward building bridges between you so that you can effectively collaborate as coparents.

For a list of practical suggestions for coparents handling events like Back-to-School Night and parent-teacher conferences, read Tips for Coparents Who Attend School Functions.
