Teacher Appreciation Week and Childcare Provider Appreciation Day

Saturday May 5, 2007
This week we have an opportunity to celebrate some of the very influential, and extremely helpful, people in our children's lives - their teachers and childcare providers.

Teacher Appreciation Week is scheduled for May 6-12. Take some time this week to acknowledge what each of your children's teachers have done to "go the extra mile" for your kids. Whether they've provided extra help, encouraged a special talent, or helped your child pursue an interest, taking the time to say "Thank you" and "You are appreciated" will make their day.

In addition, Friday, May 11, is Childcare Provider Appreciation Day. The organization Childcare Provider Appreciation has some great ideas for how you can celebrate, including:
  • Writing a note of appreciation
  • Sending flowers
  • Purchasing a needed toy or piece of equipment
  • Giving him or her a day off
In addition, ask your children how they would like to honor their teachers and childcare providers. Sometimes the idea that comes directly from a little one's heart is the most meaningful of all.
